Education and Counseling

For potential homeowners thinking of buying now or in the future, our in-depth workshop features local experts who explain how to get a loan, improve credit, use realtors, determine what's affordable, find special incentive programs, and navigate the details of the home-buying process. After the workshop, our counselors provide one-on-one support before and after buying. This program is HUD certified and open to everyone, regardless of income. Workshops and counseling are offered at HomeOwnership locations in Burlington and St Albans. CHT also provides delinquency intervention and foreclosure prevention counseling and advocacy for homeowners struggling to meet their monthly payments.
In 2009, CHT helped 85 homeowners solve their potential foreclosure, and provided homebuyer counseling to 350 households seeking to purchase a home.

Homebuyer Education

The Homebuyer Education Workshop is a comprehensive 7 1/2 hour course covering the A-to-Z of the home buying process. HomeOwnership staff and home buying professionals such as lenders, attorneys, realtors, and home inspectors will help you understand the basics of the home buying process and give you tips on how to successfully negotiate that process. Home Repair Workshops

These dynamic, hands-on workshops will show participants how to use the tools and materials needed to get the job done on their own. Workshops will be set in a constructive learning environment of real homes and they will be taught by local building professionals.
