Photography Contest
OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES

Eligibility
To enter, you must be a current or former resident of a Champlain Housing Trust apartment, cooperative or shared equity home. Champlain Housing Trust (CHT) employees, Board members, contest judges and their immediate family members are not eligible. Immediate family includes only spouses, civil union partners, parents and children. The photo subject should express the value of "home" to you. Examples of submissions may include photographs of family, gardens, repairs, pets - whatever you feel best expresses what a home means to you. All entries must include your name, physical address, mailing address, city, state and zip code, as well as an email address and/or phone number. Contestants under 18 must submit a signed letter of permission from their parent or legal guardian.
Photo Formats
Entries may be prints or digital images. Please read the specific guidelines for submitting prints and digital images.
Photographer/Copyright
Entries must be submitted by the original photographer. Do not submit a photo taken by someone other than yourself. You must be the sole owner of the copyright of any image submitted. Your submission of the photo and entry form is your guarantee that you are the author and copyright holder of the photo.
Number of Entries
An individual may submit up to five photos.
Photo Subject Restrictions
Photos must be appropriate for posting on a public website. Obscene, provocative or otherwise questionable content will not be considered. CHT retains sole discretion as to what constitutes inappropriate content.
Return of Photos
Photos, regardless of the medium, will not be returned. Please do not send your only copy of a photo.
Ownership/Use Rights
By submitting your photo(s), you grant a nonexclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, and fully sublicensable right to use, reproduce, adapt, publish, translate, distribute, and display such content throughout in any editorial, public relations, promotional and advertising purposes in any media, including the internet. You grant CHT, the right to use the name that you submit in connection with such content, if we choose. Entrants who do not agree to this use should not enter this contest. You represent and warrant that you own or otherwise control all of the rights to the content that you submit; that the content is accurate; that use of the content you supply does not violate this policy and will not cause injury to any person or entity; and that you will indemnify, defend and hold harmless, CHT for all claims resulting from content you supply.
How to Enter
Digital photos may be submitted to contest@champlainhousingtrust.org or mailed or hand delivered to Photo Contest, Champlain Housing Trust, 88 King Street, Burlington, VT 05401. Prints may be mailed to Champlain Housing Trust at the same address. All entries must be accompanied by the name of the photographer, physical address, mailing address, city, state, zip and an email address and/or phone number. Contestants under 18 must also submit a letter of permission signed by a parent or legal guardian. If you are submitting multiple entries, each photograph must be accompanied by this information. Entries must be received by July 31, 2009.
Judging
Entries will be judged on the basis of creativity, photographic quality, and effectiveness in expressing the concept of "home." A CHT panel will judge the entries and all contest decisions are final. Entries that fail to comply with the Official Contest Rules will be disqualified.
Winners
Judges will select a grand prize winner and two second prize winning photos. If fewer than ten eligible photographs are entered, CHT may choose to name only a first place winner, or may cancel the contest. In addition, one or more honorable mention winners may be selected at the discretion of the judging panel. Winners will be notified approximately 2-3 weeks after the contest deadline by phone and/or email using the information on the entry form. The first place winner will receive an Olympus 1020 digital camera, camera bag and memory card. The second place winners will receive a 40 page, 8"x12" custom-made photo book. No prizes will be awarded for honorable mention.
Submitting Digital Images
Digital images should be submitted by email to contest@champlainhousingtrust.org at the highest resolution possible. Images should be submitted in JPG (at high quality) or TIFF format. Digital images will not be returned.
Submitting Prints
Prints must be at least 4 x 6 inches. Do not send negatives. Attach a label to the back of each print with your name and address. Do not write on the photo itself. If submitting multiple entries, number each print to match a corresponding entry form. Prints will not be returned.

Additional Terms and Conditions
CHT is not responsible for computer system, hardware, software, or program malfunctions or other errors, failures, or delayed computer transactions or network connections that are human or technical in nature. Furthermore, CHT is not responsible for: (i) lost, misdirected, misplaced, illegible, unintelligible, incomplete, or late entries or (ii) any act, failure to act, or delay regarding the transmitting or processing of entries. CHT reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel or suspend all or any portion of this contest without notice if factors beyond CHT's control, including technical difficulties, disrupt or corrupt the fair or secure administration or operation of the contest. Void where prohibited. CHT is entitled to interpret these rules as needed and its decisions are final. CHT reserves the right to disqualify any entrant that CHT has reason to believe is not the original work of entrant, or does not otherwise meet the contest rules. If a winner is disqualified or determined to be ineligible, an alternate winner will be selected using the same judging process/criteria described above. Alternate winners are subject to all requirements set forth in these Official Rules.
By participating in the contest, you agree to release and hold harmless CHT and its employees, officers, affiliates, agents, and advertising and promotional agencies from any and all damages, injuries, claims, causes of actions, or losses of any kind resulting from your participation in this contest, including infringement of intellectual property rights. CHT and its employees, officers, affiliates, agents, and advertising and promotional agencies assume no responsibility or liability for any damages, injuries, claims, causes of actions, or losses of any kind arising in whole or in part from this contest.
